As per Article 8 of the General and Vocational Colleges Act (CQLR c C-29), the Board of Governors is comprised of nineteen (19) representatives.  The Ministry appoints nine (9) representatives (External Members) and the College administers the elections and appointments for the remaining ten (10) (Internal Members).

What is the role of the Board?

The Board is responsible for:

  • The good governance of the College and its associated entities.
  • Developing strategic planning in accordance with its mission and vision and ensuring implementation and follow-up.
  • Approving bylaws, policies and measures to ensure the proper functioning of a CÉGEP at the pedagogical, administrative, financial and material levels.

  • It’s about working collaboratively, with Board colleagues as well as management, and making informed decisions in the College’s best interests.
  • It’s about creating an environment of supported learning, fostering curiosity, and preparing students for success.
  • It’s about building the best possible student experience at CÉGEP Heritage College.

What would your commitment be?

  • Read all materials in advance of all meetings.
  • Attend in person and actively participate at Board meetings.
  • Consider standing for election to at least one Board subcommittee (Executive Committee and Other Committees).

Immediate Need

Following a gap analysis conducted by the Ad Hoc Committee on Board Evaluations, the following are highly desired knowledge and experience criteria:

  • Accounting/Auditing
  • Legal Profession
  • Information Technology
  • Human Resources

Parent Representative

Nominations and elections for one (1) Parent Representative by their peers will be held on Sunday, September 15 at the College.  Parents will receive additional communications regarding this event.  The anticipated start date is Wednesday, September 25, 2024 for a term of two (2) years.

Enterprise Representatives

Two (2) vacancies currently exist for a term of three (3) years and are appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education.  The criteria established by the Ministry is as follows:

  1. The enterprise must operate within the region of the College.
  2. Enterprise operations must correspond to the programs of the College technical studies, that is:
