Back to Programs Overview

The Science program provides you with the scientific foundations needed to pursue university studies.

In Biology, you will explore cellular/molecular structure and function, and discover how diverse life forms evolve in a changing environment.

In Chemistry, you will discover the main concepts underlying the structures of atoms and molecules, chemical reactions in solutions, and the reactive nature of organic compounds.

In Mathematics, you will acquire an understanding of any sciences by studying functions which are used to connect two quantities and by learning how arithmetic and geometry are linked.

In Physics, you will learn the fundamental interactions of matter and energy, and apply these to solve problems in the real world.

Program takeaways

Scientific knowledge

You will build and integrate scientific knowledge from scientific disciplines (biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics), as the foundation for university studies of your choice.

Scientific investigation

You will apply the scientific method, investigate natural phenomena, and appreciate the importance of experimental design. You will be exposed to various experiments and learn fundamental lab skills.

Scientific reasoning

You will use acquired knowledge and critical thinking skills to solve scientific problems and contribute in a meaningful and responsible way to scientific issues that impact society.

After completing the Science program I continued my studies with what I love the most: exercise and science. Heritage College is unique not only in its class size but the outstanding professors that lay the foundations for your future success; I will be forever thankful for that. If there is any advice I could give to an incoming student it is to ask more questions and build onto your dreams. Heritage opens all the doors for your personal development. Whether academic, sports, arts or volunteering, it is the perfect place for individuals ready to seize the opportunities.

BSc. HK Candidate at uOttawa

2019 Graduate of the Natural Sciences program

I am currently studying environmental engineering at the University of Waterloo. My 2020 summer will be at Aquafor Beech Limited, Water Resources Engineering as a Co-op Student. This company offers engineering and environmental science services, focusing on watershed planning, environmental restoration, fluvial geomorphology, stormwater management (including Low Impact Development), aquatic and terrestrial ecology, environmental assessment and permitting, water resources engineering, and municipal infrastructure design. I studied Science at Heritage College, a great CÉGEP with a very caring community. Many teachers are greatly dedicated to ensuring the success of their students and regularly offer office hours to answer questions. Being a small CÉGEP, Heritage College allowed me to be involved with many clubs, and to work closely with many students and faculty to achieve significant goals. I started the Heritage Handprints Environment Club which organized Earth Day fairs and brought composting onto the campus. This leadership experience has helped me get internships with great companies and succeed professionally. The College also has fun extracurricular activities like karaoke, free pizza, plays and intramurals. Come to Heritage College to learn, make friends and have fun!
