Developing Evaluative Judgement: Enabling Students to Make Decisions about the Quality of Work| Heritage

This paper argues that  a goal of higher education is student responsibility for their learning. Discussed as evaluative judgement, the authors suggest assessment strategies that help students develop their evaluative judgement as preferable to assessment which simply provides grades. They include a very helpful table that suggests how to embed evaluative judgement strategies into evaluation tools we currently use, such as rubrics, peer assessment, feedback, etc.
