By bringing students from coast to coast together, the goal of this event is to create a celebratory space, boost energy, and facilitate a cross campus conversation about the challenges and responsibility of Black student leadership.

To be a Black Student in Canada Panel
From 12:30 to 1:45 p.m.
It’s time to celebrate and recognize the work that Black students have been doing around the country! Join us for a panel discussion on the Black student experience in Canada. Featuring panelist Eternity Martis, author of “They Said This Would Be Fun: Race, Campus Life, and Growing Up”. Captioning and translation will be available.

Solidarity Across Movements Panel
From 2:00 to 3:45 p.m.
What does solidarity across movements mean? Join us for a panel discussion about how to stand in solidarity with Black movements and build collective power. Featuring panelist Sandy Hudson, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Toronto. Captioning and translation will be available.

Organizing as a Black Student Workshop (From Intention to Action)
From 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
How do we fight the power and win? This workshop will provide you with tips and tricks about how to mobilize for change and build collective power on your campus! In a special Black History Month edition of the anti-racism tool-kit workshop, this session made by and for Black students will empower participants to identify their demands and strategize with students from across the country.

Black Students’ Caucus Documentary Premiere
From 5:45 to 6:20 p.m.
Anti-Black racism is pervasive in Canadian post-secondary education institutions. Tune in to the premiere of the Black Students’ Caucus’ documentary highlighting the experiences of Black students both in and outside of the classroom. It captures the reality of anti-Black racism on our campuses and uncovers attempts to disconnect us from Black Canadian history.

Black Healing: Self and Community Care Workshop
From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Healing is an essential part of keeping the work going! End the day with a closed workshop facilitated by Muna Mohamed exploring radical self and community care, Black mental health, and more. This space is designed exclusively for Black students. Active listening support is available.
