What is Springboard?

Springboard to a DCS is an option to take general college level courses, remedial upgrading courses, and some complementary courses before switching into a regular Diploma of College Studies (DCS) program. Springboard to a DCS is a preparatory session and does not lead to a Diploma of College Studies (DCS). Therefore, we recommend you meet with an academic advisor to discuss your progression and answer any questions you might have before switching into a regular diploma program.

Is Springboard right for me?

Springboard to a DCS is recommended if you:

  • haven’t finished the pre-requisite courses you need for admission to another program; or
  • would like to explore courses that are offered in various programs and/or are unsure which program to choose; or
  • would like to build your study techniques and improve your academic performance; or
  • experienced some difficulty while you were at high school and you’re worried about studying at college.

The Springboard to a Diploma of College Studies (DCS) allows you to take more time and seek more assistance before choosing what you would like to study. You can also complete missing pre-requisites or improve your average for the program you would ultimately like to pursue.

Studies in the Springboard to a Diploma of College Studies (DCS) option are on full-time basis, during which you can take General Education courses that are credited towards any regular DCS program afterwards. Other courses can be taken depending on your goals.

Applying to Springboard

If you are not currently attending The College and want to apply to the Springboard to a DCS option, you must submit an application directly through SRAM.

If you are currently admitted to, or attending The College and want to be admitted to the Springboard to a DCS option, please complete an internal change of program through your Omnivox account.

It’s important to note that a Secondary School Diploma is an admission requirement for Springboard to a DCS, as for all college-level studies.
