At CÉGEP Heritage College, we are committed to taking sexual violence seriously. We know experiencing sexual violence can result in significant negative impacts on an individual’s physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual health and well-being.

In order to fulfil this commitment, students, staff, and other people in the community worked together to create Policy #44: Concerning the Prevention of Sexual Violence. This policy lays out the specific measures The College is using to combat sexual violence and to support survivors of sexual violence.

This policy also fulfils the College’s obligations under Quebec’s Bill 151, the Act to Prevent and Fight Sexual Violence in Higher Education Institutions. This law requires all higher-education institutions in Québec to have a policy on the prevention of sexual violence.

The policy's main purposes are:

  • to articulate CÉGEP Heritage College’s commitment to a safe, supportive, and healthy environment
  • to confirm its commitment to provide support to those members affected by sexual violence
  • to conform to the Québec National Assembly Bill 151 “An Act to prevent and fight sexual violence in higher education institutions” (CQLR, chapter P-22.1)
