Scholarships

The following scholarships and awards programs are available to Aboriginal students meeting the criteria indicated. Please contact Jean Scott at 819 -778-2270, extension 1322 or at jscott@cege-heritage.qc.ca for specific deadlines and for additional information.

RBC Aboriginal Students Awards program

The RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program helps Aboriginal students complete post-secondary education, and provides an opportunity for RBC to strengthen its relationship with the Aboriginal community. Selected students are awarded up to $4,000 each academic year for two to four years to use towards tuition, textbooks, supplies and living expenses.

RBC awards 10 scholarships in two categories:

  • For students majoring in disciplines related to the financial services industry;
  • For students majoring in disciplines unrelated to the financial services industry.

Foundation of the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth (FAAY)

The Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth (FAAY) is a national scholarship and bursary program administered by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) that responds to the critical need of assisting Aboriginal high school and post secondary students with bursaries and scholarships.

Financial Support Available
Bursaries —$750 to students pursuing a high school diploma as an incentive to stay in school. Scholarships — a minimum of $2,500 to students pursuing a post-secondary education in any discipline.

National Aboriginal Achievement Award (NAAF)

The National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation is the largest non-governmental funding body for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis post secondary students across Canada. Bursary and scholarship awards are provided to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students annually across a diverse range of disciplines.

Financial Support Available
Post-Secondary education in Accounting & Management, Commerce, Science, Technical studies, Computer Science, Social Sciences, Visual Arts and Nursing.

Canada Post Aboriginal Education Incentive Awards

The Aboriginal Education Incentive Award (AEIA) celebrates the hard work and determination of Aboriginal people who have overcome personal, economic or social adversity in their pursuit of learning. If you have committed to furthering your education and have completed a year in an educational program, you may qualify. Canada Post could give you a $1000 award to recognize your efforts to change your life through education.

First Nations Health Careers Challenge for First Nations

Five (5) bursaries of $1,000 each are awarded to students enrolled and attending health related post-secondary programs – this would relate to Nursing students at Cégep Heritage College.
