The Graphic and Web Design program is a three-year career program in a dynamic and ever-changing field. The program concentrates on providing you with the technical design/communication skills needed to design and produce content for many different platforms. Graduates of the program can manage print and electronic publication projects, interact effectively with clients, provide software support, and ensure the quality of written language. The program emphasizes integrated concepts and skills and the development of independent thinking and creativity.
Using industry-standard techniques and tools, you will plan, design, and produce compelling design solutions that effectively meet and communicate a client's needs. You will develop the ability to adapt your design methods in response to changes in design trends, technology, and practices.
Working closely with your professors, in small studio classes, you will evolve your creativity and problem-solving skill with hands-on projects. You will develop your skills through real-world projects and experience with clients. Over the three years, you will develop a design portfolio that will showcase your skill and prepare you for the workplace. Also, a key feature of the program is the co-op component, where qualified students participate in two paid summer work terms, gaining real-life experience, greatly improving their employability.
While developing an awareness of yourself and others, you will learn to communicate effectively, professionally, and ethically with a client and other industry professionals. You will develop the ability to manage time and resources effectively, both individually and as a member of a team. The program emphasizes integrated concepts and skills and the development of independent thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.

Some of our graduates choose to continue their studies after their time at The College. Our graduates often enter second-year undergraduate studies at the University of Ottawa or Carleton University, in areas such as communications, business, arts, and social science. Other universities may also offer advanced standing, as outlined in our articulation agreements.
Heritage provided me with knowledgeable and excellent teaching staff that cared about me and motivated me towards my personal and professional success. Heritage also provided me with awesome co-op opportunities that have given me valuable experience and jump-started my professional network.
