Health & Immunization Requirements

Important - Please read carefully!

Medical / Health Certificate and Immunization Record
A completed Medical Certificate and Immunization Schedule are required for ENTRY into the Nursing program.  Screening for immunity to certain diseases and verifying that your immunizations are up to date, is required to ensure that both you and your clients are protected against illness.  View the link below for Vaccination Requirements. Copies of these forms are also sent in the acceptance packages.

Police Record Check
The Nursing Department requires its students to obtain a Police Record Check for Service with the Vulnerable Population. We require that a search be conducted for criminal convictions, outstanding charges or pardoned sex offenses in the Canadian National Repository of Criminal Records.  The College has made special arrangements with the Gatineau Police to offer this service for free to both Quebec and Ontario residents.  Request forms are to be completed at the College during registration week in August.  Please bring two pieces of photo ID.  It is an admission requirement.

Returning Students
Annual updated TB testing and current fit testing for N-95 Respiratory Masks (every 2 years) are
required prior to clinical placement for the second and third year students.  Proof of these documents must be submitted to the Nursing Department in August.  If you have had a previously positive TB test, annual TB testing is NOT required.  Instead, you must complete the self declaration portion of the returning student form.

Plan Ahead!

  • Forms must be submitted and completed prior to work placements.
  • It is recommended that you submit your forms early – either before the start date of your program or within the first week.

Late forms may result in fines or de-registration from your program.  If you have any questions regarding requirements for your program or deadlines for submitting forms, please contact your program coordinator.

The process usually takes a minimum of 2 weeks to complete, but may take up to 4 weeks -depending on your immunization history.
