Press Release
May 16, 2001 - Heritage College Art Students Celebrate at Annual
Spring Art Show

The recent grand opening and vernissage of the Annual Spring Art
Show at Heritage College in Hull was a huge success. The agora of
the College was transformed into a gallery showcasing the talents
of first-year Visual Arts and second-year Fine Arts students. The
displays continued into the main art studio, providing plenty of
room for the steady stream of appreciative guests, who included
community members, current and prospective students, parents and
staff.
The evening climaxed with the presentation of prizes in several
categories, including the 2nd Annual Outaouais Alliance Art Award,
which celebrates artistic talent combined with open-mindedness,
enthusiasm, imagination, flexibility and leadership. Outaouais Alliance
President Rick Henderson was on hand to present the award to graduating
Fine Arts student Chrysanthe Lebel of Denholm for her set decoration
work for the recent Heritage Drama Club production of "Departures
and Arrivals."
The 2001 Fine Arts graduating class will be the final one for that
program at Heritage and indeed in the province of Quebec. The new
two-year Visual Arts program introduced at Heritage in Fall 2000
will continue the practice of cultivating the imagination and developing
students' creativity and personal vision while going beyond the
traditional fine arts courses to include technology-related features
and learning activities related to fields such as graphic design,
art conservation, photography, commercial art, and interior design.
