Goals:
- To give the students the opportunity to learn to build web and desktop applications using Java and .Net technologies.
- To give the students the required foundation and understanding of the fundamental concepts and base knowledge so they will be able to learn new technologies on their own and become self-sufficient in the ever changing world of programming.
Learning outcomes:
Upon completion of this program the students:
- will be able to plan, implement and maintain web and desktop applications.
- will be able to use Java and .Net technologies to implement their software.
- will be able to use different Relational Database Management Systems to store and retrieve their data.
- will be able to use popular Open Source Framework to reduce development time and to produce applications that are robust and flexible.
- will be able to work as web programmers, application/software developers, business application programmers, computer programmers, interactive media developers, internet site developer, web developer, website developer and web master.
Program profile and course descriptions
Admission requirements
To be considered for this program, candidates must have a high school diploma or proven equivalency and must also demonstrate an interest in and an aptitude for technical applications in regards to computers. Candidates will also be asked to pass a proficiency test as a condition of admission. Final selection will be made one to three weeks prior to the beginning of the program.
Ministerial Requirements
In addition, the applicant must meet one of the following requirements:
a. the applicant's studies have been interrupted for at least two consecutive terms or one school year;
b. the applicant is covered by an agreement entered into by the College and an employer or by a government program;
c. the applicant has completed at least one year of post-secondary studies over a period of one year or more.
